  1. All four candidates look like a bunch of turkeys, and they are going to lead us? They do not have any background or knowledge of what this community college is about. The last four presidents were absolutely worthless. Lee Lambert from the moment he came here was bucking for another job, it was so obvious, he should have been shown the door long time ago. I think the trustees just rubber stamp anything that comes across there meetings. This is why SCC went from #1 in the 80s to the high teens in community college rankings, no “vision” or leadership qualities.
The city of Shoreline got some real leaders when they promoted from within, and not getting people from outside who couldn’t care. Why doesn’t SCC do the same, we have enough qualified caring people. All most presidents are, are figureheads any way, and we are wasting $172,000 + on them. They should make $100,000 – $120,000 and give the rest to the teachers.

  2. I served four Presidents of SCC since 1992 including several interim candidates. I also represented Classified
SCC employees at the Board level and was acquainted with
the board member’s qualifications. With the exception of Past President Lee, it is normative to exclude the Vice President as candidate for practical reasons. I support the Board of Directors in their search for a replacement for Dr. Lee. Dr. Lee was our acting Vice President and we
did hire from within when he became our President.

The above allegations made by Mr. Matthews are without substance and clearly base in their attempt to cast ill
upon the performance of Dr. Lee and his predecessors.
His comments are disparaging and tantamount to slander
of a most vicious kind. Comparing the politics of city
management and the Higher Educational management of State
assets,is like comparing apples to donuts.

  3. It is amusing that someone associated with the college is not more respectful or tolerant with a diversity of opinion, or believes in “free speech”, trying to silence them by using the word slanderous. That term could be used anytime when you disagree with someone.

I respect that there will be a difference in opinions.

I still believe that the past 4 presidents were not the best.

    1) Lambert already stated.
    2) Holly Moore need I say any more(pun)?
    3) Gary Oertli as the Seattle Times said ethically
    challenged in financial transaction.
    4) Forget his name but no standout.

We need a President that puts the college FIRST and not themselves so that Shoreline Community College can be in the top 3 community colleges in WA, like it use to be.
