I joined the International Programs 12 years ago when they had only four employees in the department. Since then, the department has grown from hosting around 300 international students to 800 today! I have been very fortunate to have been part of the growth and had colleagues and friends like you to share the feelings of excitement, fun, happiness and challenges along the way.
As a student affairs practitioner, I have truly enjoyed my position at the college so much where I could directly impact the lives of our students, watch them grow from one quarter to the next, and leave the college with confidence and a commitment for life-long learning.
I decided to leave my position at the college to fulfill my other true passion and desire – to spend more time with my own little children and family so that they will grow up feeling excited and supported in their learning.
I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I shared with you all. I will cherish these memories. I feel nervous and excited for this creative exploration, yet I know that your friendships will continue to support me through this transition, so I feel.
I thank you for your presence, guidance, and support in my career at Shoreline and wish you all the best in the exciting future of the college.
My last day will be Friday, Dec. 13.
Sincerely,
Mari Kosin
Director of International Student Services
Note: Kosin and others from International Education are currently reviewing staffing next-steps.
Mari,
Thank YOU for your contributions to IP/IE and the College. It is with a heavy heart that I say ‘Ciao’ to wonderful colleague and friend. We have worked side by side for many years and experienced so much together — successes, challenges and of course, lots of laughter. Your dedication, expertise and wisdom in the area of Student Affairs have benefited students tremendously and you are leaving a solid legacy behind. Arigatou/Dankeschoen/Dhanyavaad/Xie Xie/Merci, Mari!
:,)
Mari,
I would not be where I am now without your help and support. Thank you for being there for us.
