Military Times announced its Best for Vets: Colleges 2015 rankings and Shoreline Community College made the list yet again. The rankings recognize Shoreline for its commitment to providing opportunities to veterans. This year, Shoreline ranked fourth for two-year colleges.
This year, the rankings factor in the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military students’ success rates. Some of the factors include graduation, retention, persistence and course completion rates.
“I am very excited about this,” Kim Thompson, Shoreline Dean of Students said. “Making the list just emphasizes the amazing people that work in the Veteran’s Program and the great services we provide for our veteran students.”
Shoreline was ranked seventh for two-year colleges in 2014. Only 14 two-year schools made the list of 120 schools that were selected last year.
The Best for Vets rankings are an editorially independent news project that evaluates the factors that make an organization a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families.
The project requires schools to document all services, special rules, accommodations and financial incentives offered to military and veteran students and to describe the aspects of veteran culture on a campus.
