Clara Pellham has been appointed to the Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees.
Pellham, a Lake Forest Park resident, received the appointment from Gov. Jay Inslee effective Feb. 9, 2015 through Sept. 30, 2015. She and attended her first Board of Trustees meeting the on March 18. All trustees are gubernatorial appointments for five-year terms which must be confirmed by the state Senate. Trustees may serve up to two consecutive terms. In this case, Pellham was appointed to complete the term vacated by the resignation of former trustee Shoubee Liaw.
“I’m interested in serving on the board to help establish policies related to increasing the programs and services provided by the Community College to the youth in our community,” Pellham wrote in her application letter. “I’ve been very impressed with the mission the Shoreline Community College has developed, and would like to be part of establishing the goals and objectives necessary to successfully implement the programs that will help achieve the mission.”
Pellham described herself as “a passionate, dynamic and solutions-oriented team leader with 20-plus years of professional experience in managing teams.”
Pellham works AirSea Guest Operations Manager with Holland America Line. For the previous 16 years, she was with AAA Washington, most recently as regional manager of travel and member services. Pellham also holds board positions with the North King County Little League and Cub Scouts Pack 329, and serves with Junior Achievement at Redmond Elementary School and DECA Washington.
She earned a Hospitality and Tourism degree and Business certificate at Edmonds Community College from 1992-95. She is a graduate of Nathan Hale High School in Seattle.
