Second-year men’s basketball guard, Anjaylo Lloyd, was named the Northwest Athletic Conference’s (NWAC) Most Valuable Player in the Northern region. He secured the title by scoring 47 points against Peninsula College in the Phins’ last game of the regular season. The win secured the Phins a spot in the NWAC playoffs.
Lloyd had an outstanding season by scoring over 24 points in 15 games and was voted Player of the Week twice this season. He’s scored over 1,000 points in the two seasons he’s played for Shoreline. Lloyd also leads in the classroom with a 3.05 cumulative GPA.
“We celebrate Lloyd’s many accomplishments and are very proud that he is representing the Phins,” said Steve Eskridge, Athletic Director.
The Phins are heading into the NWAC championships with an overall record of 14-12 and a league play record of 9-5. They last made it to the playoffs in the 2016-17 season. This is the first season they’ve made it under Aaron Mackey, who’s in his second season as head coach at Shoreline. Mackey previously served as assistant coach for seven years, during which time he was a part of two Northern region titles and one undefeated league season.
“This is a really hardworking team that’s come together to play with great intensity and effort,” said Eskridge. “We’re excited by all they’ve already accomplished and are looking forward to seeing what they do in the playoffs. We’re proud of them all.”
Shoreline plays South Puget Sound College in the first round of the playoffs at 8 a.m. this Sat., March 7. The game is hosted at Everett Community College.
