As a valued member of the Shoreline Community College Foundation Board, Vince Madden shares his expertise, time, and energy in support of the college and its students. As a Shoreline Community College graduate himself, this is one way for Vince to give back to his alma mater, which he describes as “a great place to learn and grow.”
Vince highlights the critical role that faculty and staff play in guiding students, especially when students don’t have a complete picture of their career options.
“I went to Shoreline with the [intent to become] a journalist,” Vince says. However, as he began taking courses and learning more about potential career possibilities, he decided to turn to financial services. Vince is now a Managing Director at Wells Fargo and has been with the company and its predecessor organizations for more than 30 years.
When asked what he would say to today’s Shoreline students, Vince says:
“Be part of the community experience. When I was at Shoreline, we had lots of veterans returning from Vietnam. The experience of those students and their perspectives on life was something I was unfamiliar with until I was at Shoreline. Those experiences helped me be more motivated and aware of life’s challenges. Today, Shoreline Community College has people on campus from different backgrounds and [with varying] experiences. Enjoy and learn from those diverse life experiences.”
