Shoreline Community College is pleased to announce that Joe Mazur has accepted the role of Vice President of Business and Administrative Services.
Joe will join the Shoreline in mid-September, bringing more than 25 years of experience in higher education to the role. “I am thankful and excited to be joining Dr. Kahn and the Shoreline team in its mission to transform lives and serve our diverse students and community. As a community college graduate, I see myself reflected in the students that we serve and know first-hand the far-reaching impact that community colleges provide.”
For the past 10 years he has served as Chief Business Officer at two community colleges in the Florida College System (FCS). Most recently, he served as Vice President of Business Operations & Chief Financial Officer at Seminole State College of Florida located in the Greater Orlando Metro Area. He began his career as an accountant at the Florida Prepaid College Program and then moved to positions at Florida Southwestern State College, Indian River State College, and College of Central Florida. He also has experience in public accounting.
An active member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), Mazur has served as Chair of the Florida College System Council of Business Affairs, as voting member on the Operations Board of the FCS Risk Management Self-Insurance Consortium and is an active member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA). In addition to his professional membership, he is also a graduate of the College Business Management Institute offered by the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO).
Joe earned his Associate of Arts degree with a focus in business administration from Palm Beach State College and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He also holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance from Florida State University, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Florida Gulf Coast University.
He is married to his college sweetheart, and they have two college-aged children, and a rescued cat. His daughter attends Florida Atlantic University, and his son is starting at Florida International University this fall. In his free time Joe enjoys fishing, hiking, and traveling with his family. Their most recent excursion was to Iceland where they ate fermented shark and hiked on a glacier. They hope to go to Ireland and Scotland next.
