ShoreLake Arts selected Shoreline Community College for the award based on the college’s efforts to inspire and encourage arts and culture in the community

(Shoreline, Wash.) – Shoreline Community College (SCC) film, drama and cinema department has been named the recipient of the ShoreLake Arts 2022 Community pARTner Award. The award is presented to a public or private entity that has made significant contributions to the Shoreline or Lake Forest Park communities by promoting and expanding the richness of life possible in a community-centered in the arts and culture.

As one of four award recipients, the film, drama and cinema department will be honored at the ShoreLake Arts Gala for the Arts on May 14. Other ShoreLake Arts awards include the HeART Award, Community Arts Impact Award and Spotlight Artist of the Year Award. SCC graduate Sandra Garcia-Arceo, a Latina filmmaker, director, writer and producer who studied film production at SCC, is the recipient of this year’s Spotlight Artist of the Year Award.

“For decades ShoreLake Arts has been fortunate to partner with Shoreline Community College in many ventures. We are delighted to honor the work of the film, drama and cinema department, and we honor them for making excellent, engaging film and theater education broadly accessible and for their commitment to promoting emerging artists,” said Quinn Elliott, the director for the Shorelake Arts council.

The SCC film, drama and cinema department is led by accomplished actors, directors, writers, designers and technicians who work together to create theater and film productions for the Shoreline community. For the past six years, ShoreLake Arts has presented the Shoreline Short Short Film Festival and other events in SCC’s recently renovated 360-seat theater. The Shoreline Community College Theater also hosts the annual Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) and a variety of student- and faculty-led plays, musicals and operas.
